It is meant to sit high on the head and worm at a slight tilt as was the fashion of the day. An attached elastic, original to the hat can be worn beneath the chin or caught below a chignon at the back to keep it in place. It is made from a black felt and is in beautiful condition for its age. Its simplicity makes it feel surprisingly modern even now. Excellent condition
